A library is not only about lending books. It is a creative space where skills and talents are nurtured. A community library will provide a variety of reading materials, both physical and electronic format. It will help nurture the culture of reading and learning in the community.
The library will provide free internet which is currently unaffordable to the residents. The Internet bypasses physical barriers to communication and allows humans to interact easily on a global scale. Through search engines, worldwide information will be brought closer to Karia residents.
Older people will have a place to meet and network. This will make an enormous difference to those individuals with amazing ideas but do not know where to start. By utilizing resources provided in the library, they will learn and be empowered to solve some of the prevailing social challenges such as corruption, hunger, preventable diseases (malaria, cholera, HIV), and environment denigration.
